I wasn’t picking on anyone. I was merely expressing an opinion of sympathy for someone that clearly misunderstood what Sookie was saying when she said that loving Bill is in her blood.

This isn’t about the writing, It’s about Rikki. It’s about who she is as a woman. It’s about her compromising on what she really wants in order to please Alcide and not lose her position in the pack. She’s really not that different from human women who put up with crap from their boyfriends and husbands because they think that’s the best way to retain a man and their social status. She’s already becoming unhappy with Alcide and will eventually find a way to strike out against him just like Debbie did. Hopefully, whatever Rikki does to Alcide will not involve Sookie this time,

Actually, it has nothing to do with Rikki.

It’s about the way he treated Sookie while she was drunk. He knew she wasn’t interested but since she was drunk that just makes it okay to swoop in and make a move instead of backing up and realizing that she’s just drunk and not thinking clearly.

I read your replies and i agree with you!!! Oh and i’m soooo ready for the new fic :P

Dude you don’t even know… I came up with that idea from out of nowhere and when I presented it to Missy it just blew up. She’s not one for sequels. She’s never written one for any of her other stories and I’m On Fire now has two! The second part is called Light My Fire and we’re on chapter 5 of the final installment, Eternal Flame. It’s porny and angsty and yet somehow very sweet. We’re very attached to this incarnation of Eric and Sookie but it’s been so much fun to write them and the evolution they’ve gone through from where this story begins is nothing short of remarkable. I can’t wait to start posting it for you!

Also, thank you for reading the replies I sent out. I’m glad I don’t sound insane for my opinions on this matter.

An Excerpt From Play With Fire Chapter 30

“So, Sookie,” James starts. They’re going to give her the same third degree the rest of them did. “I know you don’t only date old folks since you hooked up with Levi. Do we have a shot once you’re done with Pops?”

Sookie looks legitimately offended by that question.

“If this is the way you always talk to girls no wonder you don’t have girlfriends,” she says. “And to answer your question, no, you don’t have a shot.”

“That’s what Dad meant about them being fluent in idiot,” Alyssa says.

“I don’t think asking you not to be assholes is too much,” I sigh.

Sookie’s legitimately offended by this little exchange and all the defense she gets from her boyfriend is what he says there. It’s beyond rude and inappropriate what those boys said and basically they called assholes for it, but that’s it. So then later on, this happens…

“I love wakeboarding!” she says excitedly. “Although I learned the hard way to double knot my bikini when I do that.”

“You better blindfold the twins too just in case,” Alyssa suggests.

“Better yet, wear a one piece with something covering it,” I offer and the boys try to veto that immediately.

“I don’t like tan lines. You should know that,” Sookie winks at me.

I lean in to whisper, “You’re making it worse, pretty girl. Their little teenage hearts can’t take shit like that.”

“They’ll live,” she shrugs.

“They’re also only seventeen, maybe tan lines aren’t what we should be talking about. Especially with Lyss here.”

“Why not?” Sookie lifts an eyebrow. “Alyssa gets tan lines too from being out in the sun. You get them too. Big deal.”

“They’re a bigger deal when you suggest you’re naked when tanning. I’m asking that you don’t egg them on,” I tell her.

Now here’s where my issue lies. Should Sookie maybe not bring it up? Perhaps. However, there is nothing wrong with her statement of not liking tan lines. It isn’t as if she’s sitting there verbally painting a picture of herself nude on a beach somewhere. Even if she did, so what? Those boys shouldn’t assume that’s an invitation to treat her like a slut or anything else of that nature.

Also, where was Eric when it was insinuated that Sookie should be passed around from Northman to Northman like some little fucktoy that’s only there to service them? He’s all in a huff about Sookie mentioning nudity but his sons suggesting they should “get a turn” with her when Eric is finished is essentially unnoticed or unaddressed. This is a problem. A big one.

To me, Sookie is the one being treated like a child since she was the one to get the corrective action in front of his children while the twins’ obnoxiousness goes mostly unchecked. What kind of message does that send? Not a very good one. So Sookie gets treated like a child and spends the remainder of dinner being quiet unless someone directly asks her a question. It irritates Eric to the point of pulling her out of the restaurant to confront her about it, at which point he accuses her of childish behavior.

Behavior that he instituted by reacting to her the way that he did. I’m sorry, but I have Sookie’s back on this one. Eric fucked up and I would be pissed off if I was her. So yeah… there we have it.

Check out technology killing a serious male fantasy that’s been around for generations. I’m almost sad about it. No, it goes back to the hookup with Sookie in S5. She was drunk and previously stated that she wasn’t interested in being his girlfriend. He knew that Sookie didn’t see him as a potential romantic partner and yet, as soon as she’s not thinking clearly because her judgment is clouded by alcohol, he takes advantage of it. Rather than stepping back and saying, “Hey, maybe this isn’t such a swell idea since you’re drunk and all,” he goes for it and tells her he’s “been waiting for this”.

And why has he been waiting for it? Oh right, because she isn’t interested in him. She’s just drunk.
