All this talk of secession is basically the equivalent of a pissed off tween running away from home because Daddy won’t let you have the new iPhone.
Get over yourself.

Ummm do the red states not remember what happened the last time they pulled this shit? And this was when they had one of their own in office. I swear, this country has become a country full of whiners and people that aren’t really willing to do the work to dig themselves out of a hole. They want to talk about the 47% that are too dependent on government programs? Take a look at all the red states… you know, the ones where the government programs are most needed to keep the entire population from sinking below the poverty line.
If they want to secede and start their own little countries, I say go for it and good luck to you. You can’t even run your government properly at the state level. Just imagine what it’ll be like when you need a passport to go to Disneyland if you live in a red state. Have these people really thought about what they’re asking for? Or are they so brainwashed by the talking heads over on Bullshit Mountain that they really think there is some Utopia that President Obama is preventing us from living in?
Newsflash, assholes, MAYBERRY ISN’T REAL.
Seriously, I was just thinking about this the other day. I’m glad I’m not the only one. I wonder if this is where we’re headed, minus the slavery bits.
Skyping with my sister in Berlin…
Talking world politics again. Seriously, our government in America is just fucked. I really don’t understand why our political system doesn’t look at models of better economies in the world to see what is working for them to modify those systems to work here in America. It has nothing to do with being republican or democrat, it’s about doing what’s right for the people who live in this counter. The partisanship is what fucks us all over. What is so wrong with looking at what other countries that are much older than America, and seeing what works? I will never understand why that doesn’t happen. Other countries have better healthcare, better employment rates, etc. so why don’t our politicians and government leaders implement those practices? I really, really wish that someone would explain that to me in a way that makes sense because right now it all looks like the government enjoys seeing its citizens being separate by that 47%.
I’m watching DNC coverage…
Is it just me or it does it seem, by comparison, that the Republicans forgot they were having a convention? There was all the fuckery in their speeches like they rushed to write them and didn’t bother to even Google to see if their facts were correct. I get that the Republican party doesn’t seem to be too enthusiastic about Romney being their nominee, but damn. I don’t know… at least with the DNC I feel like I’m actually learning about what Obama intends to do with his second term whereas with the RNC it sounded like a bunch of doubletalk and skating the issues. Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed this, too?
Just another Chanel Addicted girl.: I didn't mean this to turn into a paragraphs post...but my opinions are just that, my opinions.
Mitt Romney’s Slogan, “Keep America American” was the same slogan used by the KKK in 1922.
WOW HOLY SHIT
NO FUCKING WAY
JESUS FUCK
Then on the other side of that, we have the…
I have no desire to get into a political debate and I am not going to. My thoughts are my own, as are yours your own. In a nut shell, I am much less concerned about losing the rights to my body than I am about Obama becoming president again.
Why? Because I know abortion isn’t going to be outlawed. In the grand scheme of things, my uterus is much less important than our national defense. This man is systemically dismantling our country leaving us wide open. And yes- the people he grew up around does 100% have a lot to do with who he is now. You can be damned sure if Mitt Romney associated with the KKK, he would be judged on it.
Obama resigned from the church? Yes, he did, after a tape was aired, audio of him and the pastor discussing why the pastor didn’t lie for him.
Do I not care about womens rights? No, of course I do.
Am I worried things in that matter are going to change? No, not in the slightest.
Why? Because every election this happens, and nothing ever changes.
And if it did change? That is a risk I am willing to take to protect our national defense.
You have every right to your opinions and your beliefs, but I also urge you to remember you see a very edited version of what is going on in America. Our media outlets are predominately left winged, so of course the left is always going to look better, brighter, more appealing.
Do I think Republicans have any blame in where we are today? Absolutely. I am well aware our party isn’t perfect. But we certainly aren’t as a whole racist women haters as we are painted to be.
Do I support gay marriage? 100%, as do a lot of my republican friends.
Will I vote for it? Absolutely, but it won’t make me change the President I vote for. Let me also point out Obama has been against gay marriage up until the last several months when he suddenly flipped his decision.
At the rate Obama is spending his debt (which is at around $5 trillion as of now) is estimated to be near $20 trillion by 2016. So far he has spent more in office then both Bushs (And they served multiple terms!) and Clinton combined! Obama has only been in for a little over 3.5 yrs.
He has no interest in protecting Israel, one of our greatest allies- not to mention a country we have stood beside for as long as I can remember. (To look at it from a religious point of view, which our country was founded upon- Christian’s believe Jews are God’s chosen people. Turning your back on them is tantamount to turning your back on God.)
For me, this election is not about abortion or womens rights, as much as the parties want to spin it that way. It is about our nation’s financial crisis and that if Obama has his way, we will be unprepared to protect ourselves or other countries from attack.
Again. My opinions. My beliefs- based on research I have done. I don’t go by word of mouth or what I hear on tv. I notate and read about it.
As a Media grad that studied journalism and the American elections in depth the first time around, I can safely say that my opinions aren’t formed simply out of what I ‘hear’ on TV or what I’ve heard through word of mouth. The Irish and British media have their own coverage of the elections, we don’t simply take the opinions fed to us by the Americans, we go there ourselves and form our own - both sides have been given ample air time and consideration this time around too JSYK. But, we personally differ on some serious issues, and that’s fine. It’s great that we’re still able to express those differences. For however long that lasts…
Be that as it may, I believe my living in America gives me a much different perspective then it gives you living in Ireland. If Obama continues to go around our Constitution, which our country was founded upon then yes- we could indeed lose our freedom to express ourselves. Do I think that will happen? It’s just about as likely as Mitt outlawing abortion. Take that as you will. :o)
But how you are perceived by the rest of the world is important, as without the support of the rest of the world nothing really works. Pointless wars are started, numerous people killed. Perception is important. I really don’t think the right to say what you think - no matter how wrongly perceived, is in danger of being taken away. Much like the 19 pieces of job legislation put forth by Obama to help the workforce, that was shot down by Republicans, I don’t see them agreeing with him should he suggest taking that right away. Abortions may not ever be outlawed, but the restrictions suggested for it, and for basic healthcare for the poor… it’s barbaric, and we’ll probably disagree there too. But outlawed or not, helpless women will resort to desperate measures and as we’ve seen in the past with this issue, that never ends well. Clearly we don’t agree where politics are concerned and I do post a fair bit about politics. I’d rather not having to get into an unwanted debate that is seemingly going in a circle, each time I do. So might I make a small suggestion. Name block the tags or perhaps unfollow me. If that helps any.
/shrug/ :)
If I may be so bold as to throw my own two cents in here, ChanelAddict has a point about the rest of the world’s perception of us. Media in America is extremely biased and I’ve recently come to the conclusion that you’re probably best served going out reports from other parts of the world if you really want to know the truth about what’s happening here in America. BBC News, for starters, is an excellent source of information. My sister knows more about American politics right now (and she’s living in Berlin) than the average American knows. The people here have a tendency to only seek out information that furthers their own beliefs and agendas as opposed to looking for the truth, and unfortunately right now there is a whole lotta bullshit coming out of the mouths of republicans. I’m sorry, but if Fox News is telling you that you need to tone it down with the misrepresentations, then you’ve officially crossed a line.

I just had a fascinating conversation with my sister, who moved to Berlin last year, about American politics and the things going on with this election. She sent me a link to a documentary she wants me to watch called The Power of Nightmares that she insists will change the way I see American…
Yeah, I’m never sure if I’m overly liberal, just European, or maybe it’s because I’m ridiculously Irish. But the American Republican party and their beliefs, scare the shit out of me. I don’t understand how these people don’t see their wrong turns, their idiotic notions on how the world and all the free people in it, need to be ‘ruled’. I just don’t get it. I don’t get how the women in Republican homes can be so ignorant to the changes in the world around them, that there is more to life than the middle-upper class of society and that their choices drastically affect those people. I need to stop or this rant will go on forever. Sorry for highjacking, Meg lol!
LOL dude, never apologize for ranting. You know how I roll. And I completely agree. I do not, under any circumstances, understand how you can be a woman and vote republican right now. I cannot fathom it. God forbid Mitt Romney does get elected, I sincerely hope that one of those women doesn’t get raped because they’ll have a nasty surprise coming to them when they have to prove that it was a rape and not just her slutting it up. You know, because that’s what we all do. We just slut it up and can’t control ourselves, and it’s worse if we’re on birth control. But not even that. From what I can tell, over the course of the last thirty years or so, every time a republican has been in the office of the presidency they have run our economy into the ground. Clinton fixed it up during his 8 years in office, had a nice economy to hand over to Bush and he fucked it all up again with a war that was, if you ask me, completely unnecessary and built on lies to the American public.
I’m not generally a political person, but damn. It’s just too important not to be informed right now.
I just had a fascinating conversation with my sister, who moved to Berlin last year, about American politics and the things going on with this election. She sent me a link to a documentary she wants me to watch called The Power of Nightmares that she insists will change the way I see American government. Sadly, I suspect it will mostly confirm all the things I already think. I seriously find it terrifying that so many who live outside of the US are afraid of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan winning the next election. If that isn’t cause for the American public to wake up and start paying attention, I don’t know what is.
@fardareismai2 @balti_k Since we were discussing this last night, I made this….
Six more reasons why my soul is so restless. If he is elected, I will become an illegal immigrant. Shall we, tothelibrary?
Absolutely!
Ugh, I can think of someone else that is stuck in the 7th century and is beyond reform.
It scares me that there are people who feel the way this man does about Gay Rights. I know someone in my own life who draws the same conclusions about gay marriage as he does and I think it’s absolutely disgusting. The fact that this WOMAN has two young children who could someday come home and tell their parents they’re gay breaks my heart because she has outright told me that she will not support her children if that’s the case. But she’s “raising them to be tolerant” of all. Really? Sounds like a mixed fucking message to me, but whatevs.
I have a general policy about staying out of other people’s reproductive business, but in cases like these here, I think sterilization isn’t unreasonable. JS.

Yes. Let’s eliminate birth control, sex education & programs for the poor. Then collect all the bonus children & let The Hunger Games begin!
NOW WE KNOW WHAT THE GOP HAS BEEN UP TO!
May the odds be always in your favor.
Oh my fucking lord. This is perfect.
I haven’t read the Hunger Games yet, but this sounds like it very well could be the GOP’s end game.
